
The answer is no. Your employer may not claim that you open a bank account in the country where ou work in order to receive your salary. For employees residing in a country of euro zone (19 countries, among them France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg), it is sufficient to have a bank account in their country of residence, if they work in another country of the euro zone. Bank fees for international payments in euro may not be higher as national payments (EU regulation 924/2009).
The answer is not the same if you work or residence in a non euro country.
